Asstodon. Ass. To. Don. Sometimes, you just have to stand up and applaud a fine bit of punwork, and these new Mastodon shorts are one of those times. Epic work.
Congrats to reader Charles Madison. He correctly identified last week’s logo as belonging to the band Zagharos, and for his troubles, he wins five CDs from MS Mansion Archives. Invisible oranges up for Charles! This week we have another ridiculously great prize for you cats, courtesy of Relapse Records: two, count ‘em two, copies of Set the Dial, [...] Heavy Metal Music News
[tweetmeme]Welcome to another installment of the Week in Rock, which, as its name pretty much implies, rounds up all of the headlines posted on this site over the past week — offering one-stop shopping for anything you might have missed. And this week, that included posts about about Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, The Mission, Big Country, New Order, Robyn Hitchcock and more, plus news on how to score a free Slicing Up Eyeballs sticker.
NewsHorns up for reader Alex Goldberg. He correctly identified last week’s logo as belonging to the band Harrow, and for his troubles, he wins a copy of Unearth’s new album, Darkness in the Light, PLUS a killer Unearth beer bong. NewsI know it’s arrogant for us to pat ourselves on the back, but holy shit, did we kill it this week or what? Here’s what we did: We brought you the first interview with Behemoth frontman Nergal since he was diagnosed with leukemia in August. We got the exclusive scoop on Melissa Auf der Maur’s [...]

As regular MetalSucks readers are no doubt aware, our own Vince Neilstein doesn’t really see what the big deal is about Kylesa, while our own Sammy O’Hagar thinks they’re the cat’s [...]
On each program, Costello played a song off the new album and, unlike most musical guests, also sat for an interview; in the case of “Morning Joe,” he even participated on a post-election round table with Tom Brokaw. During Thursday’s visit to “The Colbert Report,” Costello also sang a duet of the classic “Dream a Little Dream of Me” with Stephen Colbert (who, you’ll recall, sang Costello’s “Cheap Reward” for the under-the-weather singer during an appearance last year).
But Costello was most active on last night’s “Late Night,” not only singing “Stations of the Cross” for broadcast and sitting for an interview with Jimmy Fallon, but also participating in a bit in which he composed a song about an audience member on the spot and — in what’s probably the highlight of the week for longtime fans — played an exclusive web-only version of “Black & White World,” off 1980’s Get Happy!!, with The Roots as his backing band. That’s posted above, and the rest of the Week in Costello is below.
