Jesse Rose @ Le Belmont

London born, Berlin-based house producer Jesse Rose returns to Montreal this weekend to play at Le Belmont. Well known for introducing and cultivating his own flavour of off-kilter house which spread from Techno capital Berlin to dancefloors worldwide, Jesse has been extremely busy as of late. In addition to producing material for himself and groups like Chiddy Bang, Jesse also owns the Made To Play, Play It Down and Front Room Recording labels. Play It Down in particular smashed the Beatport charts this summer with the ubiquitous “Doin’ Ya Thang” by Oliver $ (listen below), which was also the top charted song of 2011 on Resident Advisor. It was everywhere, and I abused it as well. I remember a summer night where It was blasting in my apartment loud enough to be heard on the street and a neighbour across was blasting it as well. Notably, Made to Play also played home to local house duo Prince Club‘s latest release “Ice-T”(also below).

Jesse’s currently on his Made for the Night Tour which coincides with his concept project of the same name. A two-disc compilation will be released at the end of October along with a 10-minute documentary.

There are a lot of documentaries that are trying to be like, “I’m the biggest DJ in the world!” and this documentary is just me traveling around, but shot really beautifully. It’s just about getting the vibe of what I do rather than trying to be like, “I’m the best!” There’s one bit where it’s talking about me waking up, and not knowing where I am. It happens quite often where I’ll be in, say, Japan, and I’ll think that I’m at home and for a minute it’ll be odd.- Jesse Rose

I’ll leave you with with some of my favourite tracks by the man himself.

Jesse Rose plays Montreal this Saturday, October 1 at Belmont. 4483 St Laurent from 10PM to 3AM alongside Rilly Guilty & Tronald Trump. Check out the event page on the Facebook.
